Reporting to the Enrollment Director of Budget and Finance, this position provides an option to work on-site or hybrid remote, following the University's remote work guidelines.
The Senior Financial Analyst assists with developing, interpreting, and implementing financial and accounting concepts and techniques for financial planning, control, and analysis. This position will collaborate with management to gather, evaluate, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, future requirements, operating forecasts, and similar financial matters related to Financial Aid. Provides analytical and technical support with complex and large-scoped projects and serves as a technical expert on financial analysis. This position will provide functional and technical direction to other financial staff members. Additionally, this position will provide financial analysis support for the AccessUVA financial model. The S enior Financial Analyst is to maintain a high level of understanding and demonstrate financial analysis and forecasting knowledge.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics. By gathering and organizing data to update the Tuition Funded Financial Aid model & work closely with OFP&A on the forecast
Analyze financial need data and create financial models for decision support for Summer, JTerm, University Achievement Awards, and other funding awards
Analyze past fiscal year's results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements
Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting. Coordinate internal and external reporting and surveys (FISAP, HRSA, Moody's, Internal Financial Reporting, and others)
Review and assist with new Item Type setup, and FDM worktags
Evaluate financial balances for gift and endowment awarding
Determine SCHEV Codes for reporting data files by working with the IRA team when needed
Provide financial forecasting information to SFS and Enrollment leadership
Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials
Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, SIS queries, and Workday dashboards
Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools
Reconcile transactions through cross-referencing of incoming and outgoing data from SIS and Workday
Plans and manages projects for accurate completion within scheduled target dates by tracking and reporting project status/progress.
Responsible for implementing new or enhancing existing technology applications within Student Financial Services that will create new or streamline current business processes.
Promotes teamwork attributes, including leadership, attitude, management support, team building, communication, empathy for co-workers, and efforts in achieving departmental goals, as evidenced by feedback from co-workers and management.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in finance related field or equivalent experience
Experience: Two years experience in a financial, system support, or report/analytics role
Proficient in MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel
The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Enrollment Director of Budget and Finance.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
This is position offers an option to work on-site or hybrid remote, following the University's remote work guidelines and is located in Charlottesville, VA.
The anticipated start date is end of January 30th, 2023.
Anticipated Hiring Range : $65,000-$89,000 commensurate with education and experience.
