Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Department of Radiology is to create a world-class department by providing optimal care in a patient-centered environment, providing sub-specialty expertise, providing top quality imaging and therapeutic procedures, and to advance medical education and research, with a vision to create a department that is recognized as top tier nationally and internationally.

Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking applicants for a Neuroradiology faculty position to provide specialized neuroradiology imaging interpretation of CT, MR, perfusion imaging and MR spectroscopy as well as perform image guided procedures for diagnostic purposes including fluoroscopic-guided lumbar punctures, myelograms, cisternograms and CT and MR cerebral and spinal angiography. This subspecialty examines abnormalities and disorders of the brain, face, head, neck, peripheral nerves, and spine. All imaging is fully digitized using recently upgraded, state of the art equipment.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Teaching - Provide training to medical students, residents, and fellows within the large, highly productive academic radiology department.
  • Research - Maintain professional relationships and collaboration with specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, ENT and oncology to offer live-saving treatments. Have a developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications.
  • Service - Time and effort is expected to be devoted to academic service-related activities. This shall include college, school, and departmental committee work, professional growth, and other such assignments.
  • Clinical - Provide high quality, sub-specialized imaging interpretations for assigned modalities in support of the referring physicians and patients of VCUHS.

Required Qualifications:
  • ABR certification or documentation of passing the Core Component of the ABR Board examination
  • Fellowship trained in Neuroradiology
  • Candidates must demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
  • Candidates must be eligible for a Virginia medical license
  • Candidates must be eligible for permanent employment in the USA

Preferred Qualifications:
  • As experts in our field, special interest related to consulting with research investigators and referring providers while also striving for excellence in education, patient care and research is preferred
