Speech-Lang Pathologist - Acute Care

The SLP 3 contributes independently to an interdisciplinary approach to patient care service delivery across the continuum of care. A speech-language pathologist at this level has a defined leadership style and functions consistently and autonomously in this role. A SLP 3 solves problems and achieves results quickly by virtue of their broad knowledge of institutional resources. He or she is able to negotiate the system of patient care services to maximize quality and cost effectiveness. The SLP 3 is an experienced and highly skilled clinician who is recognized for knowledge and skill by his/her peers. The SLP 3 may supervise and mentor students and complete performance appraisals as assigned by the manager. A clinician at this level contributes to both program and practice development and may assume the lead for clinical projects assigned by the supervisory staff.

  • Performs evaluations of swallowing, speech, language, voice and communication.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled speech language pathology intervention.
  • Actively participates in professional growth of self and others.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement and program development.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $73,444.80 - $117,520.00 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Experience: 3 years relevant experience

Licensure: Licensed to practice Speech-Language Pathology from the Virginia Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech Pathology required. Eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or certified with Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, humidity, heat, blood/body fluids, infectious disease and dust.
