The Office of the Sr. VP for Health Sciences offers exceptional undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in our five nationally ranked health sciences schools. Our renowned medical center, the region's only Level 1 trauma center, provides state-of-the-art care in more than 200 specialty areas. The Office of Government Relations provides comprehensive governmental relations services for VCU and VCU Health System. The office serves as a liaison between the governor's office, General Assembly, agencies of the commonwealth, Richmond City Council, and local boards of supervisors, as well as with Virginia's congressional delegation.
Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities
The Office of the Sr. VP for Health Sciences seeks a Sr. Health Policy Analyst. Closely aligned with the VP for External Affairs and Health Policy as well as the VCU Office of Government Relations, this role will:
Serve as a critical partner to VCU Health System (VCUHS) Finance and the state Medicaid agency in identifying potential funding opportunities to support the academic medical center
Provide data-driven state and federal health policy expertise to support the development of funding and healthcare delivery models that play a critical role in public and private payer initiatives for VCUHS
Provide data management, statistical analyses, project management, and other research activities in health policy
Produce summary report(s) that integrate policy and research analyses, identify current gaps in programs, present refined reports detailing the incorporation of policy within current programs, and give options to further address policy issue(s)
Use advanced research skills to perform a variety of research and program development activities
Contribute to the work of multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment by providing policy expertise
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited program in Health Policy, Health Management, or a related field
Seven or more years of experience working with any of the following: Medicare, Medicaid, public insurance program contractors, CMS and Medicaid demonstration initiatives, and affiliated industry groups and related federal agencies
Expertise in statutory, regulatory, and administrative guidance that governs business requirements for public health insurance programs
Expertise with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
Broad knowledge of the American healthcare system, healthcare industry, Medicare and Medicaid payment, and contracting policies
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
