About the Bachelor of Sciences Degree Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Our Bachelor of Sciences in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) Degree Program is a new multi-disciplinary applied sciences program that welcomed the first student cohort in the Fall 2024 semester. As the only public BSPS program in the Commonwealth of Virginia, our mission is to educate and train students for entry-level pharmaceutical sciences positions in the private and public sectors, for further education in MS/PhD graduate programs, and for further training in a professional degree program such as Medicine (MD), Pharmacy (PharmD), Dentistry (DDS), and other healthcare-oriented fields. Students in the BSPS program will be rigorously trained in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry/Drug Discovery, Biology, Pharmacology, Physiology, and Drug Development (ADME/PK, drug dosage forms, and preclinical development). Graduates from the BSPS program will be competitive for employment in the pharmaceutical/life sciences/biotechnology industries, service laboratories, and government agencies, as well as be ready to pursue advanced graduate (MS/PhD) and professional studies (MD, PharmD, DDS, etc).

About the Role

The Bachelor of Sciences in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) Degree Program in VCU School of Pharmacy (SOP) invites you to apply to our BSPS Degree Program Coordinator position. This full-time position will support the new BSPS Degree Program Program and collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners in the pharmaceutical industry and health sciences to ensure the undergraduate students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for their chosen career track.

Key Responsibilities

This BSPS Program Coordinator will provide support to the Program Director by coordinating internal and external degree program operations, including working with faculty on course scheduling and delivery; provide liaisonship between students, faculty, and the Program Director; managing relationships and scheduling with external Pharmaceutical Industry partners, including scheduling guest lecturers for courses and providing administrative support for external research experiences for the undergraduate students; and provide executive-level administrative support to the Program Director. The BSPS Program Coordinator will assist in the development, communication and implementation of policy and practice related to the conduct of the BSPS Program and give administrative support for didactic teaching, experiential education, and general office needs. The BSPS Program Coordinator will also support the Program Director in liaising with other SOP offices including: Student Success; Admissions and Strategic Engagement; Academic Affairs and Education and Assessment; Communications; Finance and Administration; Development; Experiential Education; Research and Graduate Studies, and Academic and Faculty Affairs. As needed, the BSPS Program Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and facilitate student events and special programs related to the BSPS degree program. The activities will vary depending on the office need, and they may require some travel. This position is full time and in person, with the possibility of limited remote work.
