The Department of Public Health Sciences is currently seeking two Staff Biostatisticians. The incumbent collaborates with research faculty members in the Division of Biostatistics, as well as other investigators in the School of Medicine, on multiple clinical and basic science research projects. The biostatistician designs and performs reproducible statistical analyses, writes technical reports and interprets study results. The incumbent collaborates and supports research projects, providing status reports, and research publication and grant proposal support.
Biostatisticians collaborate with biomedical researchers in designing and implementing research projects and publishing results. They write statistical design, methods, and analysis for research proposals. They collaborate with biomedical investigators to develop objectives and design sampling, randomization, and data collection procedures to achieve study objectives. They assume lead roles in research projects by serving on committees, supervising project personnel, coordinating quality control efforts, and serving on writing teams. Biostatisticians may supervise junior professionals and other staff.
Job Description
Write statistical computer programs.
Review computer output for consistency and quality.
Analyze data and prepare tables for interim and final reports.
Design tables and statistical procedures for specific research studies.
Write results sections of reports and publications.
Develop statistical designs and planned analyses for research grant proposals.
Develop and implement new innovative procedures in the areas of data collection, quality control, presentation of results, and statistical analyses.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field by appointment start date
One-to-four years biostatistical application experience. Experience gained as a student will be considered.
Programming experience in R, SAS, and REDCap required.
Experience with Stata, Matlab, LaTeX and/or Markdown is preferred.
