Duties & Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated Statistical Analyst to join our research team. The staff member will collaborate with investigators/postdocs/fellows to conduct complex statistical analyses and support all phases of research projects, from data collection and management to manuscript and grant preparation. This position is ideal for an individual with strong quantitative skills, experience analyzing health or clinical research data, and the ability to communicate findings effectively.

  • Conduct complex statistical analyses using appropriate methods for observational and longitudinal research.
  • Merge, clean, validate, and manage data from multiple sources while ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Assist with data collection, database development, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Prepare analytical datasets and document data management and analysis procedures.
  • Create high-quality tables, figures, and summary reports for manuscripts, grant applications, presentations, and research reports.
  • Collaborate with investigators to interpret study findings and communicate results effectively.
  • Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and grant applications.
  • Participate in study design discussions and provide statistical input on research protocols and analytic plans.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary research teams and maintain accurate documentation of analytical work.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical programming software such as R, SAS, Stata.
  • Strong experience in data cleaning, data management, and merging complex datasets.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present statistical results clearly to scientific audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in R, SAS, Stata.
  • Strong data visualization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to reproducible research practices.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
