The Mechanical and Aerospace (MAE) Department in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) is seeking a Student Services Generalist for its graduate programs. The successful candidate will work closely with the MAE Graduate Program Director, MAE faculty, staff and the SEAS Dean's offices. Student Services Generalists serve as primary contact for students as they matriculate and enter the University. They provide a variety of services including, but not limited to, admissions applications, placement testing, counseling, financial aid, course registration, and procurement for the school or department. Administrative responsibilities include the maintenance of student records and services provided, as well as assisting in basic financial management. Student Services Generalists work independently on assigned tasks and in reaction to stakeholder requests.
Primary responsibilities include communications, admissions, academic and financial record keeping for students, administrative tasks, and overall coordination of our prospective and current students' experience. The position also involves scheduling and event planning, making travel arrangements and assisting in projects and tasks for the department as required. The Student Services Generalist will work independently on assigned tasks as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment and must be willing and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
A Bachelor's degree with at least two years of experience is required. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement. The successful candidate must have office administrative experience and must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as the ability to create comfortable working relationships with administrators, faculty, students, prospective students and parents. The candidate must have a Fiscal background working with student funding. Administrative office experience working with databases, keeping information confidential, ensuring accurate information, coordinating events and meetings, making travel arrangements, preparing correspondence, maintaining records, and gathering information for report writing.
The preferred candidate will have been experienced in use of UVA systems, SIS, SAFM, Oracle and UBI and able to train to transition to Workday Financials.
