Position Summary

To directly manage and oversee our hourly and student staff known as the Tech Squad. Including recruitment, technical training, assigning tasks, quality control, reporting, and documentation.

To provide “Front Line” operational and technical support on the VCU Monroe Park and Medical Campus including but limited to, Multimedia systems and application support, as well as faculty and staff training.

To develop/maintain technical knowledge related to the AV Industry to be applied for direct support of classroom technology as well as for use in updating the knowledge, skills, and abilities of our tech squad team.

To support the department’s objective to oversee the creation and implementation of system technology and standards to produce high-quality learning spaces that improve graduation rates and graduate success in the workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a strong customer service background.
  
• Must be a self-motivated worker capable of working independently to complete tasks efficiently without supervision.
  
• Must be detail oriented.
  
• Must have a working knowledge of classroom multimedia technologies such as AV control systems, projectors, web-based conferencing hardware, audio system components, and presentation resources.
  
• Must have experience working with spreadsheet formulas that facilitate process automation and statistic tracking.
  
• Must have an aptitude for configuring software applications for process documentation, training modules, task management and delegation, and team collaboration. Such as Canvas, internal wikis, Slack, Google Drive and smartsheets.com (or equivalent).
  
• Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and an expressed commitment to do so while at VCU
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a technology-related field. Or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  
• Ability to troubleshoot functionality and signal path issues in Multimedia AV systems.
  
• Experience manipulating and configuring sophisticated AV control and audio systems.
  
• Experience with Multimedia classroom support both directly and through delegation to a staff of hourly support personnel.
  
• Experience with reporting, documentation, data collection/management.
  
• Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages.
  
• Experience leveraging applications such as canvas, internal wikis, slack, and smartsheets.com (or equivalent) with a focus on managing tasks, processes and training modules.
  
• Training other employees on departmental processes and procedures.
