The UVA School of Medicine is looking for a motivated and customer support minded individual to fill an open Technical Support 1 position. This is a team oriented position that provides front-line end user support. The Technical Support 1 is an important member of our support team, working directly with the School of Medicine’s IT technology end users. Experience and interest in technology and computer-technical support is important, but most important is an attitude of professionalism, being willing to learn, and being team oriented.

Job Duties:
Perform computer hardware/operating system/software and related peripheral equipment support/repairs within the established guidelines for timeliness and quality.
Keep ticket management systems properly updated with device asset information and other data elements encountered during the course of maintenance, troubleshooting and repair duties.
Maintain and enhance knowledge of the School of Medicine’s desktop environment as well as the School of Medicine’s policiesproceduresand initiatives.
Communicate appropriately with customers, team members and computing staff.
Research and diagnose common desktop support needs, networks, security, and standard SOM applications across Windows and Mac OS desktop environments, tablets, and phones.
Help to maintain IT needs for departments, A/V support, desktop hardware and software setup, IT equipment purchases and deployment, and equipment surplus.
Work under immediate supervision, seeking assistance when guidelines are not clear, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
Effectively interact with fellow team members, IT staffing, and with assigned School of Medicine end users.
Provide individual and/or group instruction and training to students, faculty, and/or staff on computer technologies.
Effectively manage time, prioritize, plan, and complete multiple tasks.
Perform at a high level when dealing with challenging users/support situations
