About the Department:
The Department of Psychology (https://psychology.gmu.edu/) boasts over 1,700 undergraduate majors (BS, BA), 330 graduate students (PhD, MA, MPS), and 50 full-time faculty. There are five graduate areas in the department: Cognitive & Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical, Applied Developmental, Human Factors & Applied Cognition, and Industrial-Organizational. Departmentally, we have expertise in applying AI/ML approaches to cognition, personality assessment, therapy, and other areas of psychology. About the Position:
The Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, within the Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience program in the Psychology department, will have expertise at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) (e.g., deep neural networks and large language models) and neuroscience. The Assistant Professor should have an interest in bringing new methods in AI to neuroscience, and/or using findings/data from neuroscience to develop new AI solutions. This might include investigation in connection with neuroimaging, computational models of cognition, genetics, or other related areas.
The position is expected to teach and advise at the graduate and undergraduate level, engage in scholarly activities and provide service at the departmental level. This position is expected to develop an internationally recognized and extramurally funded research program, participate in the department's PhD and MA programs, and contribute to the department’s excellence in undergraduate education.
