Department Summary:
The Department of Accounting is inviting applications for two non-tenure track (term) faculty positions. We invite you to join our collaborative group of accomplished and innovative teaching and research focused accounting faculty.
The accounting curriculum is designed to create a learning environment that is technology focused and encourages students to interact with others in identifying and solving accounting and business problems. We offer an undergraduate major in Accounting and a Post-Baccalaureate Accounting Certificate designed for individuals with a non-accounting undergraduate degree who are seeking CPA certification. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Accountancy degree with a concentration in data analytics and a PhD in Business with a concentration in Accounting. Faculty also teach in the MBA and Executive MBA programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The term instructor role supports the teaching and research mission of the department of accounting and of the business school. Term instructors’ primary responsibilities are to teach graduate and undergraduate accounting courses and to support the accounting department in service roles. The typical workload for a term instructor is 80% teaching and 20% service. Teaching responsibilities for this role will be primarily in face-to-face classroom settings. In addition, this role requires facilitating interactions between students and the accounting profession, the business community, and the community at large.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
A Masters degree in Accounting or Taxation or a masters degree in a related business field accompanied by significant professional accounting work experience.
Excellent oral and written English language skills
Eligibility for employment in the United States
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
A doctoral degree with an accounting focus.
Professional work experience in an accounting or finance role.
An active CPA license or other active professional accounting certification(s)
Experience in teaching accounting in a higher education or professional setting.
Experience connecting with the business community to facilitate interactions between faculty, students, and community stakeholders.
Salary Range: $125,000-130,000
