Advertising Summary:
The Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences is seeking an Instructor or Assistant Professor with an emphasis in Health Science for a renewable term appointment (non-tenure eligible). This is a nine-month position with the opportunity to teach during the Summer session. This position will also undergo annual evaluations with opportunities for promotion following University guidelines.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of an earned Master’s Degree in Health Science or related field; A minimum of one year of teaching experience in higher education; competence in teaching undergraduate courses across a wide range of content areas such as health care delivery in the U.S.; Introduction to Epidemiology, Health Care Management; Nutrition for Health and Disease; Health Disparities in the US; Personal Health and Behavioral Change; Disease Trends, Prevention and Control; Coping and Adaptation; and Substance Abuse.
Willingness to support occasional evenings (classes scheduled between 8:00 AM and 9:40 PM) and weekends (recruitment or engagement activities).
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in Health Science or related field; record of excellence in teaching and service activities in higher education; Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification; Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement, and build successful programs that enhance students’ professional development, academic success and belonging.
