Job Description:

Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning.  Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.

The Testing Center Proctor will support the overall operations and core testing functions of the Testing Center with a mission of service to students, faculty, staff, employers and community members.

• Administer comprehensive testing and support the core testing functions to include but not limited to Virginia Placement Test, PSI testing, Pearson testing, NHA tests, NCCT tests, Nurse Aide testing, exams from ESCC, exams from VCCS institutions and other college/universities
• Provide support to Library, Workforce and other departments as needed
• Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external constituents
• Promptly answers telephone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and any other customer
• Administer tests on and off-campus
• Compile statistical data for assessment reports
• Maintain daily operation of Testing Center to include: preparing lab computers, cameras, & reference sheets, scheduling student appointments, preparing for appointments, seating students for testing, mailroom box, and other files as needed in accordance with ESCC/VCCS policy
• Obtain and maintain necessary credentials to administer various tests to students or other customers
• Show reliability, dependability, flexibility and a pleasant disposition
• Have a basic computer knowledge and familiarity with the basic Microsoft products
• Provide basic troubleshooting on computers
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Experience with customer service and/or assisting people from a variety of backgrounds
• Writing skills sufficient to take messages and communicate via email with supervisor
• Basic computer experience
• Good oral communication skills in English
• Self-directed and responsible to call for assistance from Security if needed
• Attention to detail
• Knowledge of effective customer service techniques both in person and in an automated environment
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with a diverse public
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Demonstrated skill with operating a PC and experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and email software
• Ability to obtain necessary certifications for testing center during work hours within one month of employment
