Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.
This position will perform manual maintenance, grounds, trades and custodial tasks in and around campus buildings and grounds. Building maintenance and custodial duties to include classrooms, offices, conference rooms, hallways, labs, restrooms and lectures halls. Assist in moving furniture and equipment; stripping and waxing floors; setup and breakdown for special events; maintaining approximately 113 acres of grounds including mowing, weed control, landscaping and pruning. Assist with cleanup associated with inclement weather conditions.
This position is considered essential and may be required to report to work during inclement weather and/or emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions and follow safety regulations.
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds, climb ladders, use small hand tools.
Experience operating grounds keeping equipment.
Experience using and handling cleaning agents.
Understanding of risk management to eliminate any potential hazardous situations.
Knowledge of, and prior experience using, good customer service and communication skills.
Valid driver's license.
Custodial, landscaping, and general maintenance/trade experience required.
