Trades Utility Technician

Facilities Management's Health System Physical Plant at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Trades Utility Technician. A large part of this position will focus on relocating materials across Grounds, including laboratory equipment, pallets of supplies, as well as the set-up and take-down for various events.

Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,100 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.

Duties Include:

• As part of the Moving Crew, relocate materials across Grounds, including furniture, laboratory equipment, pallets of supplies, etc...
  
• Assist with set-up and take-down for various events.
  
• Respond to emergency calls, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  
• Communicate with customers regarding the status of work order, providing additional support and problem solving, as needed.
  
• Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
  
• Develop an increasing familiarity with the skills and best practices of assigned trade.
  
• Actively participate in classroom and on-the-job training.
  
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
  

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver's License required.
  
• Previous experience in a building trade preferred.
  

For this position, the selected candidate will need to complete the required background checks.

Compensation:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour ($37,440 - $45,760 Annually). This is a full-time position with UVA benefits . Employee benefits package highlights include:

Physical Demands:

Employee will be required to lift various weights, climb ladders and stairs in order to complete jobs. The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties.
