Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is to provide the highest quality clinical care in both general and specialty Obstetrics and Gynecology to the women of central Virginia. In addition to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goals of providing undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field, and advancing the field through basic and clinical research.

Chief Purpose of this position: We invite candidates to apply to the Urogynecologist position in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at VCU and VCU Health. This position is designed to provide specialty care in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, including in and outpatient consultation, and performance of specialty specific diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The position will include participation in student and resident education as well as in the department’s clinical research activities.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching The new faculty member will be responsible for actively participating in the department's educational activities, with particular attention to educating students and residents in their core educational objectives in urogynecology and pelvic floor disorders.
Research The person filling the position is encouraged to initiate clinical research projects. They are expected to participate in and facilitate other department research.
Service Faculty member will serve on departmental, hospital and/or university committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field.
Clinical The Urogynecology faculty member will see specialty specific patients in clinic, perform diagnostic procedures such as urodynamics, and will have an active surgical practice, which will ideally include minimally invasive and robotic procedures. The staff member will also participate in the general gynecologic activities of the department as appropriate including nighttime call duties.
Other The staff member will participate in department and institutional administrative activities as assigned by the section chief and chair.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Completion of training in OB/GYN residency program.
Medical license in Virginia
Completion of ABOG Board requirements in a timely fashion.
Completion of specialty training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency
