Summary:
The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Art History program is establishing a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. The Department of Art History is engaged in establishing an interdisciplinary, global approach to the visual arts. Its faculty and students recognize the need to study the permeability of geographic, temporal and theoretical boundaries and to produce historically and culturally grounded interpretations of works of art and visual culture.
The pool of applicants could be drawn upon to provide temporary staffing when needed; to provide special teaching expertise when needed; and/or to meet special programmatic needs not otherwise provided for within the program. This pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises. Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Art History program.
If an opportunity becomes available, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for the Art History Program and have a desire to work with a student population in a collaborative and learning-centered community of other adjunct instructors, students, faculty and staff.
