About the Positions

Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) Vocational Rehabilitation Department is seeking two Vocational Rehabilitation Evaluators to join our team. The Vocational Rehabilitation Evaluator facilitates career assessment and exploration services that support individuals as they progress through the VR process toward competitive, integrated employment. This role is essential in helping participants identify strengths, barriers, and pathways toward meaningful career outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

ASSESSMENT OF INDIVIDUALS
Provide comprehensive career assessment and exploration services that guide individuals through the VR process.
Key Tasks:
• Design or modify assessment instruments, integrating reasonable accommodations and assistive technology.
• Conduct vocational evaluations addressing referral questions.
• Collaborate on training/education options, credential pathways, and support needs.
• Develop engaging pre assessment activities (online and group formats).
• Produce objective, data driven written reports with labor market aligned recommendations.

COLLABORATION, TRAINING, AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Work closely with admissions, VRCs, and referral sources to ensure timely and effective assessment services.

Key Tasks:
• Maintain a written or online referral process with assigned offices to ensure referrals are properly staffed before service initiation.
• Partner with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors (VRCs) to ensure timely assessment services.
• Provide clear, thorough, and timely assessment results and case documentation to referral sources.
• Communicate updates on WWRC resources, programs, and employment trends regularly.
• Stay current with emerging assessment tools and implement new instruments as appropriate.
• Identify and implement strategies to reduce the time between referral and evaluation.

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION, DOCUMENTATION, AND COMPLIANCE
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with audit and reporting standards.

Key Duties:
• Maintain accurate, timely, and factual service notes, forms, reports, and supporting records to meet audit, quality review, and RSA data reporting standards.
• Maintain an ongoing record of all referred candidates, including attendance in group and individual assessment sessions, and yearly review of MSGs/Credentials obtained to ensure recommendation alignment.
• Complete weekly timesheets in the state-run management/timekeeping platform, ensuring correct allocation of VR and Pre ETS time.

Minimum Qualifications

Core Knowledge

• Social, economic, medical, and psychological factors impacting individuals with disabilities
• Interviewing, evaluation, and counseling techniques
• Career exploration tools, work samples, and assessment methodologies
• ADA requirements and disability‑related workplace accommodations
• Occupational requirements, labor market trends, and job analysis practices
Assessment
• Selecting, administering, and interpreting standardized assessments and work samples
• Synthesizing academic, aptitude, interest, and physical ability data
• Interpreting results and developing logical, evidence‑based vocational recommendations
Professionalism
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize effectively
• Proficiency with Windows‑based systems and case‑management software
• Understanding of test validity, reliability, and measurement principles

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required for Entry into Position:

Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Evaluation, or a closely related
field.

Additional Considerations

Possession of a CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) or CVE (Certified Vocational Evaluator) or eligibility to sit for the certification examination may substitute for the educational requirement.
• Knowledge of WIOA and ADA
• Experience providing assessment or counseling to individuals with diverse disabilities

Special Instructions

This position has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2 1201.1.
A fingerprint based criminal history check will be required of the finalist.
