The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority is seeking qualified candidates for a Warehouse Maintenance Supervisor position. The Warehouse Maintenance Supervisor will provide skilled maintenance, repair, and operational support for material handling equipment within the Distribution Center while providing day-to-day supervisory direction for equipment repair activities. The Warehouse Maintenance Supervisor prioritizes, coordinates, schedules, and monitors maintenance tickets, including emergency repairs, routine service requests, and scheduled preventive maintenance for critical operating systems.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Coordinates, assigns, and monitors the workload of Equipment Repair Technicians responsible for repairing, servicing, and maintaining distribution systems equipment.
  • Establishes daily priorities, provides instruction, technical guidance, and hands-on assistance as needed, and follows up on work progress to ensure electrical, mechanical, and systems-related repairs are completed accurately, safely, and in a timely manner in accordance with established practices and procedures.
  • Administers work orders, reviews technician assignments, and tracks scheduled and unscheduled repair activities through the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Oversees, coordinates, and provides on-site direction for external contractor activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Conducts routine quality inspections, provides feedback and corrective direction when needed, and confirms work meets established standards and complies with applicable state and federal codes.
  • Perform the inspection, repair, adjustments, servicing and maintaining of all Distribution Systems Equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, install, and maintain control wiring, electrical circuits, and computer control systems.
  • Rebuild, refurbish, install and modify DC equipment including conveyor equipment, racks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and stretchwrap machines
  • Develops all equipment maintenance schedules and coordinates maintenance efforts.
  • Responds to emergency equipment service and/or repair needs in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that distribution system equipment is inspected and maintained in accordance with applicable state and federal codes.
  • Prepares and accurately maintains required maintenance records for distribution conveying systems and material handling equipment.
  • Manages the purchasing and availability of spare parts within established inventory limits.
  • Consults with senior Production staff regarding anticipated equipment purchases based on operational needs and prepares purchase specifications as required.
  • Monitors equipment repair costs within budgetary guidelines and ensures appropriate inventory levels are maintained for standard replacement parts for operational efficiency.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, motor controls, conveyor systems, maintenance shop practices, and other industrial maintenance skills to include the use of hand and power tools, computer-based diagnostics and computer control systems and test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of HMI and PLC interface software and proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Considerable knowledge of diagnostic and repair techniques related to forklifts, pallet jacks, unit conveyance systems, sortation equipment, and related warehouse mechanical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of supervisory practices, including assigning work, setting priorities, monitoring progress, reviewing completed work, providing technical direction, and coordinating contractor or vendor activities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of programmable logic controls (PLCs), I/O systems, and system networks, with the ability to diagnose failures in related controls and network components.
  • Thorough understanding of the use, function, and electrical operation of photoelectric and inductive proximity sensors, including the ability to troubleshoot sensor failures.
  • Skilled in the use of drill press, hydraulic press, mig welder, acetylene torch, multi-meters, meggers, soldering iron, micrometers and D.C. power supply.
  • Working skill in the operation of various types of warehouse mobile equipment and conveyor related equipment.
