Teach basic English language and reading to help Marines prepare to take the TABE 11&12 Test D.
Courses are to be delivered in person at the Quantico Marine Base Monday-Friday during business hours.
*This position is as a Workforce Adjunct Instructor. Workforce adjunct instructors are paid on a teaching-hour basis unless otherwise specified. Upon hire, adjuncts become eligible to teach for Workforce, but no employment is guaranteed. Workforce adjuncts are attached to classes and receive a Letter of Agreement a few weeks or days before the beginning of the class(es). This Letter of Agreement outlines the requirements of the adjunct position. Letters of Agreement are issued for each class assigned to be taught, and the rate of pay and class start date will be detailed in the Letter of Agreement.
Duties and Tasks:
Provide hands-on instruction in basic English language and reading to prepare students to sit the TABE 11&12 Test D.
Utilize the assigned textbooks as primary source material.
Minimum Qualifications:
KSA's:
Excellent organizational skills and classroom management skills.
Ability to communicate basic English language and reading instruction in a clear and engaging way.
Ability to work with a diverse student population.
Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work individually as well as on a team
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English
Previous experience in an educational or training setting
Two (2) years’ teaching experience in developmental English
Experience training adult learner
Experience using learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience training military personnel
Experience teaching TABE/GED mathematics
Experience teaching “boot camp” style training
