Applicant Frequently Asked Questions

1.  How do I log into my account?

Paste this link into your web browser: https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/1125/aw/applicationForm/default.asp. Chrome browsers have the best functionality.

2.  I’m getting a message that an applicant account already exists. How do I fix this?

This usually means your email is already registered. If you started an application but did not finish it, this created an account and your application was saved. You cannot select “Apply Now” again once you have already started an application with your email address.

To resolve the error:

Clear your cookies and cache in your browser. Restart your browser and try to log into your applicant account: https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/1125/aw/applicationForm/default.asp

Any applications not completed will be listed under “Incomplete applications”. Click “Continue application” to continue where you left off. If the job posting has closed, you will not have this option.

Please complete this form if you no longer have access to the email on file. When reaching out, please include specifics on job posting number/title, the email address you are using and add screenshots.

3.  The system says I don’t have an account, but I already applied to a job. Why is that?

If you applied for a job prior to January 24, 2023, you would not have an account in the new jobs system. You will need to select “Apply Now” to a jobs.virginia.gov posting to create an account.

See the JOB-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS section for a complete list of agencies who have a separate applicant tracking system. In these cases, go to the agency job’s site to access your account information. We post these jobs on our website, but do not manage them in our system. Look for a confirmation email from when you applied and the information may be listed for easier access.

4.  Why are some of my applications not listed in my account?

This could happen if you applied with:
  •  a different email, or
  •  you applied for a job with an agency that has an external jobs site. See the JOB-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS section for the complete list of agencies.

5.  I have an account, but it won’t let me log in.

Confirm you are using the correct email address that corresponds to the one you used when applying for a job.

Sometimes there can be a caching issues in web browsers that affect account access. When this occurs, first clear your cookies and cache in the browser you normally use, close the browser and reopen it. Navigate to the jobs site (https://www.jobs.virginia.gov/home) and try performing the action again.

If you applied to a job posting with an agency that has a separate applicant tracking system, you will need to access their site to log in. See the JOB-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS section for the complete list of agencies.

If you still encounter issues, please complete this form with a detailed description.

6.  I want to use a different email address on my account. Can I change it?

Yes. Log into your applicant account: https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/1125/aw/applicationForm/default.asp

Click “Update profile” and you can make updates to your basic profile information like name, email address, phone number and employment status. If you change your email, remember to use that email when logging into your applicant account in the future.

7.  I have multiple accounts and want to see all my applications at once. What are my options?

It is recommended that applicants only have one account in our system. Sometimes having multiple accounts can cause log in issues. If you know or suspect you have multiple accounts, please complete this form to request to have your accounts merged. Provide as much information as you can to help identify your accounts including, at least your name, emails, and phone number.

1.  I couldn’t finish my application, and now the system won’t let me apply. What should I do?

Log into your applicant account: https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/1125/aw/applicationForm/default.asp. Your incomplete application(s) will be listed. Click “Continue Application” to complete the form.

2.  I want to make changes to my submitted application. Can I edit it?

Our system does not allow edits once submitted. You can withdraw your application and reapply if the job is still open. Log into your applicant account and select “Withdraw”: https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/1125/aw/applicationForm/default.asp. If the posting is closed, contact the hiring agency for guidance.

3.  If I withdraw my application, can I apply again?

Yes—if the job posting is still open. Once it closes, you cannot resubmit.

4.  I got an error when I applied and now the job is closed. What can I do?

You cannot submit through the system after the job closes. You may contact the hiring agency to explain what happened, but acceptance of late applications is at their discretion.

5.  I didn’t receive a confirmation email. How can I confirm my application went through?

Check your spam folder for a confirmation email and view your submission status by logging into your applicant account: https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/1125/aw/applicationForm/default.asp

6.      I’m receiving an error when uploading documents. What should I do?

Make sure your document meets the file type requirements (doc, .docx, or .pdf). Try resaving the file as the correct file type and uploading again.

7.      How can I tell the status of my job application and check if someone is looking at it?

Log into your applicant account: https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/1125/aw/applicationForm/default.asp

Applications submitted will be listed in view. If an application has been submitted successfully, a “Current status” will be shown.

1.  I want to find a job at a specific agency. How do I do that?

On the job search page, the job filters are listed on the left side of the screen. Scroll through the list and select any agencies you want to filter by.

On the phone, the filters are listed under the search button on the search page. Click “Filter jobs” and the filter options will appear.

2.      I don’t see any jobs when I filter by agency. Why?

Either the agency doesn’t have any jobs available OR you have filters that are enabled and need to be cleared. You can use multiple filters at once to narrow down the search results.

3.  How can I filter jobs to find what I’m looking for?

Use the search bar and filter options on the job listings page. On a computer, they are listed on the left side of the screen. Multiple filters can be selected at once. If multiple filters are used, it can eliminate other available jobs from the search results. Click “clear filters” to show all available jobs. You can filter by category, employment type, city, and agency in the pre-set filters. Other key words can be used in the search bar, solely or in addition to dropdown filters. (examples: “pay band 3”, “corrections officer”, “analyst”, “hybrid”)

On the phone, filters are listed under the search button on the search page. Click “Filter jobs” and the filter options will appear. The functionality is like the directions above. To clear any existing dropdown filters, open the dropdown menu and move the selection to the topmost option.

4.  I want to be notified when a job is available. Can I do this?

Yes! You will need to sign up for “Job Alerts”. First open a job posting to show the details screen. It is helpful to select a job that you have some interest in, but it’s not required.

On a computer, the job alert sign up is on the right side of the screen under the Apply Now button. If you are on a phone or zoomed in to make the screen text larger, the sign-up will be under the job posting details. Look for a heading the reads “Sign up for job alerts”. Fill in the fields and add or remove any details that are not desirable. If you click in any of the categories, employment type, locations, and agency fields, there are available dropdowns with options that you can select. After filling in the fields according to your interests, click the “I’m not a robot” reCAPTCHA. Finally, click “Send” to finalize the alerts. You will receive emails that contain the details you defined.

5.  How do I access my saved or favorite jobs?

First log into your applicant account. Then use this link, https://www.jobs.virginia.gov/me/settings. There you can view the jobs you have set as your favorite and your job alerts settings.

6.  How do I access my job alert settings?

First log into your applicant account. Then use this link, https://www.jobs.virginia.gov/me/settings. There you can view and update your job alerts settings.

1.  I have questions about a job or my application. Who do I contact?

Reach out to contact listed in the posting. Most jobs have contact information listed in the job posting details. If no contact is provided, look up the agency’s HR office for assistance. Sometimes contact information is provided in confirmation emails on submission of applications.

2.  A job is posted on your website, but directs me to an external website when I apply. Why is this?

Multiple agencies have jobs posted on our website but manage their jobs on their own platforms. If the system directs you to an external site, follow the instructions carefully to be sure your application is submitted successfully. To check the status of applications submitted on any external jobs, you will need to log into your account(s) at the agency’s individual job site(s).
