    Job Duties

    This position operates through the Dean for Students and is responsible for effectively managing student advocacy while addressing second-level nonacademic concerns, issues, or complaints by working in collaboration with campus stakeholders. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring the highest level of satisfaction possible is provided to constituents within the written policies and guidelines permissible. The coordinator is also responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with families of students within the University community. This includes planning, facilitating, and assessing ongoing and new family engagement activities. This position also assists with Student Conduct as needed, including outreach, support person, and education.

    Minimum Qualifications

    This position requires the ability to effectively investigate student grievances, strong interpersonal communication, and writing skills; Assess outcomes, and develop strategies for improving services, programs, and communication in conjunction with students, faculty, and staff. Maintain strong student case management skills in an online case management system. Work with the Dean of Students on developing annual reports and future strategic goals and initiatives impacting student advocacy and parent relations. Ability to work collaboratively by building strong meaningful working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents. Have or gain an overall knowledge and understanding of university departments, policies, and procedures i.e., student academic grievance process, etc. Ability to use various social media platforms, and web technology, for outreach. Experience in designing, writing, and editing newsletters, and department webpage

    Additional Considerations

    Education, Experience, and Licensure, Certification are required for entry into the position.
    This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Student Affairs, Social Work, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field. Essential qualities and skills include but are not limited to, the following: a commitment to student success; excellent public speaking and communication abilities; creativity; the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and others; problem-solving skills; experience using technology to support student success; and sound judgment. The successful candidate must be innovative, collaborative, and have experience in implementing programs and services for students and parents. Preferred skills and experience also include prior involvement in peer mentoring, life coaching, event planning, student supervision, and case management. A theoretical understanding of first-generation and Gen Z students and experience with managing grants is highly desirable.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Social Work, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field. Strong interpersonal abilities with a proven track record in building effective relationships with colleagues, students, faculty, and staff. Proficient in presenting information clearly and addressing inquiries from parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and students promptly. Customer service-oriented mindset. Understanding of the transition process for parents and families entering the higher education environment. Strong planning abilities and project management experience. Competent in complex decision-making and problem-solving. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines effectively. Proven confidence in delivering presentations and programs, both large and small scale. An analytical and data-driven approach to making informed decisions that supports advocacy for students.
