Job Description

When was the last time you changed the world?

In Virginia Tech’s Division of Student Affairs, that’s exactly what we’re doing every day—guiding, nurturing, and supporting students as they learn and grow into the leaders and world-changers of today and tomorrow.

We’re currently searching for a Psychiatric LPN to join our Cook Counseling team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re passionate about healthcare and the student experience, please keep reading.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the Psychiatry team at Cook Counseling Center, a multi-disciplinary team who assesses, diagnoses, and treats students referred for psychiatric evaluation. The LPN is supervised by Board Certified Psychiatrists.
2) You’ll be reporting to a Nurse Practitioner in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative staff appointment.
3) You’ll be responsible for working with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatry residents, and other Counseling Center staff to provide professional mental health care services and health education to Virginia Tech students. You will maintain and promote the health of the student body at Virginia Tech by performing skills as a licensed practical nurse.
4) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
5) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $54,000 - $55,600, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE TEAM:

2) THE DIVISION: For our students and ourselves, the Student Affairs division believes that changing the world requires courageous leadership and commitment to curiosity, integrity, civility, and service to others. Our culture is defined by a commitment to our Aspirations for Student Learning.
3) THE TEAM: The Cook Counseling Center provides mental health services to the student community of Virginia Tech. The embedded counselor works with a multidisciplinary staff of counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurse practitioners, psychology interns, psychiatry residents, and practicum students to deliver services that maintain the highest standards of professional and ethical care.
