Job Description

The Department of Political Science at Virginia Tech is seeking to appoint a faculty member as a Visiting Assistant Professor to enhance and expand its instructional mission, student advising, international programs, and experiential learning opportunities by coordinating the department’s participation in the Bridge Experience program [https://xl.vt.edu/programs-and-opportunities/bridge-experience.html] coordinated by the Academy for Experiential Learning. This is a three-year restricted position beginning on August 10, 2025.

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness
  • A writing sample

Required Qualifications

  • A PhD (preferred) or an MA/MS degree in Government, Political Science or related field required by time of appointment.
  • Significant collegiate teaching experience.
  • Experience in undergraduate advising and mentorship.
  • Record of leadership and significant experience in the development and/or coordination of Bridge Experience-related programming.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty members, administrators, and external partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
