The final track will be offered based on the qualifications and preferences of the successful candidate.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary oncology team within the Animal Cancer Care & Research Center (ACCRC), part of the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute’s biomedical research complex in Roanoke, VA. The successful candidate will work alongside a dedicated team that includes a medical oncology hospitalist, two radiation oncologists, one surgical oncologist (with a second position in negotiation), and specialty interns.

Advanced Facilities & Technology:
The ACCRC is equipped with a USP800-compliant chemotherapy suite, a 64-slice CT scanner (Siemens SOMATOM Confidence), digital radiography, ultrasonography, three modern operating rooms, and a state-of-the-art Varian Edge linear accelerator. Additional resources include a small animal (rodent) PET/CT and PET/MRI, with a Siemens Magnetom Prisma 3T MRI coming soon for clinical use.

About the Animal Cancer Care & Research Center:
Opened in 2020, the ACCRC is on a steep upward trajectory in clinical care, research, and education. It is a premier small animal cancer research hospital delivering exceptional, comprehensive, and compassionate cancer care. This brand-new, beautiful facility was purpose-built to foster innovation in patient care and translational research, providing unmatched opportunities for collaboration and professional growth.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the area offers immediate access to the Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Smith Mountain Lake—making it a paradise for hiking, biking, paddling, and scenic exploration. Downtown Roanoke is vibrant and welcoming, with farmers markets, local breweries, diverse dining, art galleries, and live music. Located just 45 minutes from Virginia Tech’s main campus in Blacksburg—connected by regular Wi-Fi-equipped shuttle service—Roanoke is also only 3.5 hours from Washington, D.C., with convenient train and air travel.
