Job Duties
The Office of Licensure and Certification is seeking two registered nurses to conduct onsite surveys/inspections and complaint investigations at acute care facilities. Duties include federal certification, validation, and complaint surveys; Virginia State licensure inspections; the interpretation of federal and state laws and regulations to determine compliance, and the preparation of written survey/inspection reports. The primary responsibility for this position is home health agency (HHA) and hospice programs with a secondary responsibility of home care organizations (HCO). As prescribed in federal regulations, this position requires an active registered nurse (RN) license. This list in not all inclusive. State wide travel and personal vehicle usage is required. This is a home-based position. Minimum Qualifications
Applicant must be a licensed registered nurse with sufficient clinical experience to evaluate the delivery of healthcare in the acute care setting. Must be able to evaluate health related services to determine adherence to established statutes, regulations, and standards; communicate detailed information orally and in writing and have strong organizational skills to plan and execute a travel schedule to meet report deadlines. Must be able to travel throughout Virginia with overnight stays (the frequency of travel may vary), using their personal vehicle until a state car can be assigned. Must possess basic computer skills with knowledge of word processing and email programs. A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency. Ability to obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) [Ref.2] within 90 days of hire date and annually.
