Job Duties

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus of up to $8,000. *Must be new to state service in order to be eligible* Eligible for staff loan repayment program.

The Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents is looking for full time Clinical Director.
Serve as a director of the psychology department, providing effective department leadership through directing and coordinating all psychology programs. In addition, provide oversight, direction, and supervision to the Admissions, Social Work and Rehab Departments to ensure this facility offers quality services and treatment while meeting all internal and external regulations. The clinical director will report directly to the facility director.

The Clinical Director will direct a comprehensive psychology service program. Establish department specific policies/procedures that adhere to standards of practice and reviews/update regularly. Responsible for recruitment and hiring of psychologist, implement and maintain credentialing / privileging of licensed clinical psychologists consistent with TJC, CMS standards, and VA State Law. The Clinical Director will provide comprehensive assessment of behavioral and emotional functioning with focus upon referral problems and identified needs, using psychometric measures as indicated; summarize evaluation results of previous psychological evaluations; provide diagnostic formulation; provide treatment recommendations based upon the results of the psychological assessment; conduct forensic evaluations (competency to stand trial evaluations) as assigned; and perform and document assessments in a timely manner.

The Clinical Director will also actively supervise members of nonmedical clinical services, ensuring the provision of high-quality assessment and treatment; develop and implement a coordinate plan for therapeutic activities that support each patient's treatment and the hospital model of care; ensure that supervisees provide are as specified in each patient's treatment plan, consistent with their needs; provide active clinical leadership across units and disciplines; support the hospital's trauma informed model of care; and ensure that mandatory trainings are completed. Clinical Director will be responsible for Staff monitoring and evaluation, assure performance of psychology, admissions, social worker, and rehab team. Actively participate in administrative activities. Consult and collaborate with clinical and other department head and assist in developing hospital policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

- Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology, with specialized child and adolescent training
- clinical experience with children and adolescents
- licensed as a clinical psychologist in Virginia
- considerable knowledge of psychological service delivery, diagnostic evaluations, treatment, testing and evaluation, clinical psychology, administration of mental health services, supervision, psychological research, and crisis counseling
- demonstrated ability to organize, plan, develop. implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program of psychological service delivery, to write quality assurance reports, supervise the work of profession staff, and to provide psychotherapy in group and individual settings
