JMU’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX Office are within the unit of Access, Compliance and Engagement (ACE). These offices administer and promote equal opportunity and compliance to applicable federal and state laws for the entire JMU community.

The Case Management and Operations Assistant position reports to the Director of the Title IX Office. The individual selected for this position will support compliance and implementation of best practices in receiving and responding to reports of sexual misconduct (Policy 1340) and Title IX Sexual harassment (Policy 1346), support compliance and implementation of best practice in the training and education programs of the Title IX Office, and serve as office manager.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Manage all incoming reports and inquiries to the Title IX Office. Responsible for all aspects of case tracking and file management. Assist with maintaining, analyzing, and reporting office statistics. Contribute to developing improvements to intake, file management, and data management. Assist with the provision of supportive measures for impacted parties. Meet with community members to provide information about resources and options available through the Title IX Office.
  • Education and Training: Provide administrative support for online training platform and assist in the management of the Title IX Office’s training and education schedule and materials. May provide educational presentations to students and employees. Represent office at university events. Contribute to developing improvements to the Title IX Office’s education and training efforts. Participate in annual and ongoing training as required by federal law.
  • Office Management: Reconcile the budget according to university financial guidelines. Purchase all supplies and materials following university guidelines, keep an accurate inventory, and maintain office equipment. Responsible for event and travel logistics as needed. Provide scheduling and other administrative support to Title IX Office staff as needed. Manage the Title IX Office website.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage in a respectful, compassionate, fair and impartial manner with a variety of stakeholders in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Awareness of trends and issues in higher education and Title IX

Additional Considerations:

  • Prior work experience in Title IX, higher education, or compliance
  • Experience managing sensitive materials
  • Awareness of compliance requirements related to Title IX
  • Experience developing and/or delivering training and education related to Title IX, sexual misconduct prevention and response, or another relevant field
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and/or individuals in crisis
