Hiring Range: Adjunct faculty are paid a per credit hour rate. The per credit hour rate is determined by the assigned rank and discipline taught. Assigned rank is determined by both education and teaching experience

Additional Detail

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

• Ability to work with a diverse student population

• The ability to teach during the day, evening, weekend or combination of both
• Ability to use instructional technology
• Advanced skills and understanding of the current version of the Adobe Creative Cloud software

• Master’s degree in the teaching field or appropriately qualifying field, or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field or appropriately qualifying field. Qualifying degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
• A minimum of two years of full-time, related occupational experience. Part-time occupational experience will be converted to its full-time equivalent.

• Prior experience teaching in higher education
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
• Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
• Some experience with online teaching platforms
