Job Duties
The Marine Resources Commission seeks a knowledgeable individual to serve as the Administration and Finance Coordinator. The selected individual will provide administrative and accounting support to the Administration and Finance department. The position is responsible for ensuring the agency has controls in place that safeguard all assets. Duties include entry of controlled and capitalized items, inventories and reconciliation of controlled and capitalized assets to Cardinal and FAACS reports. Prepares all agency surpluses items for sale and disposal, tracks revenue from sale of surplus. Maintains Vehicle database for all agency vehicles, coordinates insurance claims for vehicles and vessels. Processes Accounts Payable vouchers and Employee Expenditure vouchers for payment. Acts as proxy reviewer in Bank of America Works. Creates policies and procedures for assigned duties. Covers receptionist duties during absences and lunch breaks on rotation.
Minimum Qualifications
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles and practices.
• Knowledge of standard office equipment, including computer skills, data entry, word processing, development of spreadsheets and database manipulation.
• Must have good command of the English language and the ability to create correspondence with correct grammar usage.
• Ability to perform detailed work with numerical data and make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
• Ability to work with the public and coworkers.
Additional Considerations
Preferred Qualifications:
• College courses in business or accounting.
• Accounts Payable experience.
• Experience with tracking assets and conducting inventories.
• Experience with credit card online reconciliation.
• Experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Fixed Asset Accounting and Control System.
•Experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Cardinal Financial System.
