Summary

The Virginia Partnership for Gaming & Health (VPGH), housed within the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling, College of Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University, is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, creative, and resourceful Administrative Assistant. This hourly position will play a critical role in supporting both administrative functions and curriculum development for VPGH’s statewide initiatives.

The Administrative Assistant will support the daily administration of multiple components of the VPGH program and ensure that activities are executed in accordance with program goals. This position requires a candidate who is not only skilled in administrative coordination but also brings experience or interest in educational content development and instructional support.

They will assist with communications, reporting, and operational activities, and work closely with senior leadership to develop processes and implement new programs. This position requires independent problem-solving, initiative, and the ability to serve as a liaison across departments and organizations.

This hourly position is grant-funded, and has guaranteed funding until June 30, 2026.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze data for internal reporting and to support program evaluation and improvement.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze data related to Peer Recovery Specialist workload and service delivery to support program planning, workforce development, and operational efficiency.
  • Plan, coordinate, and administer assigned program activities including event planning, scheduling, and communications.
  • Assist with the coordination of public relations activities such as newsletters, social media, promotional materials, press releases, and flyers.
  • Assist in the development and revision of training materials, presentations, fact sheets, and educational content related to problem gambling and recovery services.
  • Collaborate with content experts to support the design and delivery of in-person and online educational modules.
  • Support instructional design tasks such as formatting slide decks, preparing handouts, managing course materials, and providing feedback during curriculum reviews.
  • Ensure curriculum and training resources are accessible, up-to-date, and appropriately disseminated.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, 1-3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in professional written and oral communication.
  • Experience in G Suite, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Pro.
  • Superior customer service and teamwork abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and remain adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders including students, professionals, and community partners.
  • Ability to self-direct work and contribute collaboratively to team goals.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of professionalism, respect, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience or interest in curriculum development, instructional design, or educational programming.
