Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Education seeks an Assessment Coordinator – Test Results Utilization to provide leadership in the analysis and interpretation of various educational data. This position will make inferences about areas of strengths and weaknesses for groups of students, schools, and school divisions; will provide in-depth technical assistance to school division staff and Department of Education staff in the interpretation and use of student test data and test administration policies and procedures. Specific duties include: • Write, review, and revise communications and documents to inform school divisions of assessment policy and procedures • Provide prompt, accurate technical assistance by phone or email • Collaborate with Student Assessment staff to ensure accuracy and consistency of technical assistance provided to school divisions • Address and resolve test irregularities with consistency and accuracy • Assign test irregularities to be completed by DOE assessment staff • Assign and review corrective action plans assigned to schools/school divisions • Manage the scheduling, development, and VDOE delivery of new DDOT training sessions • Assist in planning and conducting school division data audits • Assist in the management and maintenance of the Assessment Committee Application Process System (ACAPS) • Provide technical assistance and training to school division staff and to Dept of Education staff in the use of assessment data • Provide leadership in student data and test results utilization
Minimum Qualifications
• Demonstrated skill and experience in analyzing student test data to draw conclusions and make recommendations • Knowledge of procedures for both paper/pencil and Web-based assessments • Demonstrated leadership in interpreting and using test data to improve instruction • Demonstrated ability to design meaningful professional development and present complex information to various audiences using multiple delivery methods (email, web-based instruction, audio conferences, face-to-face meetings, etc.) • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to the educational community, contractors, and the public regarding highly complex assessment program information • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and focus on data • Demonstrated ability to interpret policy and procedures to respond to program inquiries • Considerable experience in managing and monitoring multiple, concurrent tasks effectively • Considerable knowledge and skill using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) • Considerable knowledge of large-scale assessment practices, including test administration procedures
Additional Considerations
Graduation from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Advanced degree • Experience in Web-based test delivery systems and evaluating the functionality of Web-based applications • Experience in large-scale assessment at either the state or local school division level
