General Information:

The Assistant Dean for Research will develop and implement research strategy; identify and connect faculty with potential funders; support faculty members in research activities that include grants, publications, and entrepreneurial endeavors; disseminate best practices in ethical research conduct; foster collaboration within the College of Education, across the University, the Commonwealth, and world; promote faculty research achievements.

The position will provide oversight, strategic planning, and infrastructure support in promoting research activities within the College of Education at James Madison University.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Serve as the liaison for the College with the Research, Economic Development, and Innovation division.
-Serve as Ex-officio for the COE Research & Scholarship Committee.
-Lead collaboration efforts within the College, across the University, and globally in developing potentially funded research projects.
-Promote best practices in research studies.
-Disseminate information within the College about human subjects’ research.
-Connect potential funders with faculty.
-Develop and monitor infrastructures for faculty that include pre-award and post-award activities.
-Develop and lead processes for grant development, from brainstorming to applying for and managing funded grants/contracts.
-Oversee the internal awards process (seed grants, i.e.).
-Facilitate professional development for faculty and staff in the area of research activities.
-Supervise the Grants Specialist.
-Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

-Doctoral degree in education or related field
-Be eligible for tenure at the Associate Professor or Professor levels in one of the College’s academic units
-Experience applying for and receiving grant/contract funding
