The University of Virginia School of Education and Human Development (EHD) seeks an educator at the rank of assistant professor (non-tenure eligible) who will teach courses, provide clinical supervision and engage in professional service to support the Department of Human Services Educational Specialist in School Psychology (Ed.S.) program. The program prepares graduates to deliver comprehensive school psychological services (i.e., prevention, intervention, assessment, and consultative services) to student populations in educational settings. Specifically, graduates will engage in data-based decision-making to design and implement evidence-based interventions to promote academic, behavioral, and mental health success.
The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of effective college teaching experience in courses related to school psychology and school mental health. We expect that the successful candidate will be an excellent instructor and student advisor to work collaboratively with the director of Clinical and School Psychology Programs and EHD faculty to provide exceptional educational experiences for students. This is a 9-month, salaried, non-tenure eligible faculty position with the possibility of renewal.
The candidate is expected to serve as the degree coordinator for the Ed.S. in School Psychology program (3-year renewable appointment). In this capacity, the candidate will work collaboratively with faculty colleagues, both within and outside EHD, to support the continued development of the Ed.S. program. As the degree coordinator, this individual will support the program in obtaining and maintaining accreditation; teach core/required courses and provide school supervision in the Ed.S. program; serve as a faculty advisor for students enrolled in the Ed.S. program; contribute to institutional service activities at the program, department, school, and/or university level as assigned and to professional service activities; and will attend Ed.S.
