Associate Director, Undergraduate Student Experiences

The University of Virginia’s School of Data Science seeks a student-centered, experienced professional to serve as Associate Director of Undergraduate Student Experiences. This role enhances the co-curricular experience for students in the Bachelor of Science in Data Science (BSDS) program, with a focus on leading the prestigious Stephenson Scholars Program and fostering a vibrant undergraduate community.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Program Development

▪ Lead co-curricular programming to support students' academic, personal, and professional growth.
▪ Collaboratively manage the Stephenson Scholars Program, with Associate Dean for Student Affairs, including recruitment, design, mentorship, and enrichment activities.
• Develop inclusive community-building initiatives and innovative engagement strategies.

Student Success & Support
▪ Implement strategies that advance retention, engagement, and support for the BSDS student community.
▪ Serve as a student resource for academic, career, and personal development.
▪ Collaborate with faculty and academic support teams to ensure holistic student success.

Assessment & Continuous Improvement
▪ Evaluate programs using data and student feedback to drive improvements.
▪ Stay current on best practices and trends in student affairs and higher education.

Collaboration & Partnerships
▪ Partner with faculty, career services, and other internal stakeholders to align efforts with institutional goals.
▪ Develop external partnerships to expand professional opportunities and pipelines.
▪ Support recruitment and outreach in collaboration with Admissions and Student Affairs.

Required Qualifications
▪ Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Ed, Educational Leadership, or related field.
▪ 5 or more years of experience in higher education, student development, or program management.
▪ Demonstrated success in student engagement programs.
▪ Experience managing budgets and working across diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Reporting Structure: Associate Dean for Student Affairs

Salary Range: $85,000- $91,000 per year based on education and experience

This position will remain open until filled. This is an exempt level, benefited position. The University will perform background checks on all hires (if required) prior to employment. Education: Master's degree
Experience: At least five years of experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
