About the Department:

In collaboration with the George Mason University community, and as a part of the Office of the Provost, the Division for Enrollment Management optimizes student recruitment and retention by developing and implementing strategic enrollment plans, overseeing the admissions process, providing financial aid services, and managing the Mason Student Services Center—a centralized student services resource. The Division’s activities support the achievement of institutional enrollment goals by placing the student (and family) at the center of our work, supporting a culture of transparency, and leveraging data to inform decision-making.

The Office of Admissions facilitates the recruitment and enrollment of freshmen, transfer, graduate, and non-degree students in alignment with the University's strategic plan, ensuring a diverse and successful student body that contributes to the institution's excellence and global impact.

About the Position:

The George Mason University Office of Admissions is seeking an enthusiastic professional to serve as the Visitor Center Representative for the Mason Tour and Visitor Center.

Responsibilities:

The Visitor Center Representative is the first point of contact for prospective students, families, and visitors to Mason, providing a professional and welcoming experience. This role manages daily operations of the Mason Tour & Visitor Center, including unlocking and setup, check-in for campus tours, and maintaining an organized reception area. The Representative answers applicant questions and knows when to escalate concerns to the Admissions team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Positive, friendly, and customer service-oriented attitude;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to work positively as a member of a team; and
  • Proficient with technology and able to learn new systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • One to two years of experience in a high-volume, customer service-oriented office environment;
  • Experience in higher education; and
  • Bilingual.
