Job Description
The Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the systems that support enrollment, learning, client engagement, and digital credentialing for Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) programs at Virginia Tech. This includes primary responsibility for the enrollment system, customer relationship management platform, form processing tools, the learning management system (Canvas), the digital badge and credentialing platform, and other integrated systems.
The role focuses on ensuring the efficient operation, integration, reporting, and strategic use of these systems. The manager serves as a bridge between technical and functional stakeholders, regularly collaborating with program managers, finance, registration staff, and external partners to improve service delivery and operational effectiveness through data-driven and systems-based solutions.
This position reports to the Director of Continuing and Professional Education and supervises the Enrollment Systems Coordinator. This also includes oversight of the department's SharePoint environment for collaborative document management, as well as DocuSign for digital signatures and document workflows. Additionally, the role requires working knowledge of Google Analytics to assess user engagement and digital performance of public-facing systems and forms.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
• Significant experience with systems management, specifically enrollment and CRM platforms
• Strong understanding of data integration, business process mapping, and reporting
• Demonstrated ability to design, run, and interpret data reports and dashboards
• Experience using tools like SQL Server Reporting Services, Excel macros, Visual Basic, or scripting languages
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Experience managing projects and providing user support and training
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a collaborative environment on simultaneous projects
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in a related field
• Experience managing Modern Campus, Salesforce, Canvas, and/or FormAssembly
• Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership in a cross-functional team environment
