Position Summary:

The Division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success (SEMSS) at Virginia Commonwealth University is hiring a program coordinator for the new Career Bridge Scholars Program, a State Council for Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV) grant-funded program designed to engage first-year Pell-eligible students in the foundational pillars of our career planning major maps, while also providing financial resources to ensure students can dress for success, build social and professional networks, and access paid work-based learning opportunities. The Career Bridge Program Coordinator will serve as the project lead responsible for managing the tracking and coordination of the Career Bridge Scholars Program. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the program’s success by facilitating collaboration between key stakeholders, monitoring student progress, and overseeing financial processes related to student support. This position reports directly to the Director of First and Second Year Experiences.

Core Responsibilities:

Program Coordination (50%):
  • Coordinate efforts to implement the Career Bridge Scholars Program implementation, working closely with students and invested personnel in pursuit of successful outcomes for participants and working closely with the Director for First and Second Year Experiences on program direction and oversight.
  • Lead and facilitate monthly team meetings with the project care team, including financial coaches, career and academic advisors, employer developers, academic coaches, and other invested personnel.
  • Maintain open lines of communication between stakeholders to ensure alignment on program goals and student success strategies.

Student Financial Support & Employment Tracking (20%):
  • Monitor and manage the awarding of financial assistance for students to purchase professional attire and memberships in professional organizations.
  • Track part-time employment of program participants and collaborate with student success professionals (advisors, financial aid, etc.) to support student success and the full utilization of available funds.

System Integration & Data Tracking (15%)
  • Develop and implement tagging and tracking mechanisms in Navigate and Handshake systems to efficiently monitor student engagement and progress.
  • Utilize Banner to track program participants and assess their progress toward program outcomes, including in support of required grant reporting and assessment efforts.

First and Second Year Experiences Engagement and Support (15%):
  • Assist with purchasing efforts related to First and Second Year Experiences (FSYE) programming.
  • Contribute to large-scale data management and communication projects to support student success initiatives.
  • Provide additional administrative support to FSYE programs, the student success course program, and other FSYE initiatives as needed.
