Operating entirely on revenue from game sales, rather than tax dollars, the Virginia Lottery generates more than $2.0 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools. The Virginia Lottery also licenses and regulates casino gaming and mobile sports betting.
The shift for this position will work Thursday - Monday 12:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. with Tuesday and Wednesdays off.
The Casino Compliance Representative:
• Completes assigned duties from Casino Compliance Management. • Analyzes data, information and situations, and makes recommendations when data and/or situations do not conform to established standards, policies, regulations or laws. • Observes casino procedures in critical areas including, but not limited to: Slots, Table Games, Poker, Retail Sportsbook, Key Watcher, Surveillance, Cage, Drop and Count. • Receives casino patron complaints and reports it to management. • Records all complaints and written reports into the Lottery’s automated case management system. • Coordinates with other departments to ensure that all casino licensees adhere to established regulations. • Observes the gaming floor for suspicious activities, and reports that information to management and casino personnel as appropriate. • Serves as on-site liaison for the central computer system vendor to ensure that all machines are communicating properly and complete any required reporting. • Observes casino personnel with jackpot payouts to ensure proper jackpot payout procedures are being performed. • Performs intake for fingerprinting for casino employees. • Performs intake of individuals wanting to exclude themselves from gaming and reports this to the Compliance Analyst. • Conducts regulatory compliance and enforcement investigations as directed by the Casino Compliance Management. • Coordinates activities with the appropriate Virginia Lottery personnel regarding equipment placements, floor plans, and all necessary surveillance coverage with every floor plan change. • Performs coin testing for all new machines and ensures that the slot machines are properly communicating. • Reviews and ensures adherence to casino internal controls, property rules, regulations and procedures and any other governing laws, regulations or directives. • Assists Lottery on-site auditors in observing casino operation procedures and performing related tests when requested. • Prepares status reports and compiles statistical information as requested by management. • Prepares written reports after investigating incidents that occur within the casino. • Makes operational, system, or policy recommendations to the Casino Compliance Supervisor to effectively accomplish the mission of the agency. • Maintains proficiency in using all assigned databases and other resources. • Effectively researches available data and compiles findings in response to investigative and/or administrative inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. • Two or more years of experience in administrative or investigative work. • Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing casino gaming. • Knowledge of advanced investigative principles and techniques. • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills. • Ability to build effective working relationships with diverse groups of people and officials. • Proficient in desktop applications such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and automated databases. • Ability to clearly document investigative findings, prepare management reports, and make logical and sound decisions in critical, complex, and changing situations. • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and /or competing tasks and responsibilities and meet established deadlines; and readily adapt to organizational and operational changes. • Ability to maintain the utmost integrity, persuasiveness, and diplomacy in discussing controversial subject matter.
Additional Considerations
Casino operations, casino compliance and/or regulatory investigations experience is preferred.
