The Court of Appeals of Virginia is accepting applications for a full-time judicial law clerk.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities –
The judicial law clerk provides staff support to the Senior Judges of the Court and the Office of the Chief Staff Attorney. In both roles, the judicial law clerk will conduct independent research and legal analysis for each assigned case and recommend a disposition to the Court; review appellate filings to ensure compliance with all procedural rules and requirements; draft memoranda; and, perform specialized research and writing projects for the Judges or Chief Staff Attorney as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful applicant will be an individual interested in a long-term professional opportunity who has graduated from an ABA accredited law school. Desired qualifications include graduation with high academic standing; participation in moot court competition or a law school journal or, in the alternative, prior legal writing experience; excellent research and writing skills; thorough familiarity with the Bluebook system of legal citation; and competence with on-line legal research and Microsoft Word. The most competitive candidates will have outstanding written and oral communication skills, be conversant with the Rules of the Court of Appeals of Virginia, have exemplary organizational skills, and possess the ability to prioritize assignments with minimal oversight.
