Job Duties

Performs patient care as a nurse practitioner with ready on site access to a physician for guidance and oversight. Performs physical examinations, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes controlled substances, may directly perform or direct others to perform nursing assessments, may perform lab tests, take measurements, develop and implement care plans, including the administration of medication and case management. Actions performed at this level require licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner by state code.

Minimum Qualifications

Typical Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):
• Knowledge of clinical medicine and clinical skills in pediatrics, family planning, gynecological services, STI and adult health services
• Knowledge of nursing, physical examination techniques and findings, both normal and pathological, disease states, diagnostic testing and limits of testing, and pharmacology
• Skills in interviewing, counseling, effective written and verbal communication
• Ability to perform and interpret physical assessments, obtain medical history, perform and/or interpret diagnostic testing, formulate differential diagnoses and plan of care and provide health education to clients
• Ability to work independently; ability to problem solve and to work effectively with others in a team environment.
•Licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner as required by state code.
•Must possess a valid driver's license.

Additional Considerations

• Family Nurse Practitioner is preferred
• Prior public health or community health experience is preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification is preferred
