Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.

Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.

Virginia Western Community College, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for part-time Radiation Oncology clinical instructors in the School of Health Professions.

Responsibilities for clinical instructors include: instruction at local hospital/medical center facilities for at least 8 students per day for two or three days a week (no night or weekends), 7:30a.m.-3:30p.m., evaluation of student’s performance during radiation therapy procedures, evaluation of student’s knowledge of image matching, observe/instruct equipment manipulation, provide setup instruction as needed, and serve as liaison between the college’s radiation oncology program and the radiation oncology department.

Clinical instructors are expected to maintain currency in their discipline and in trends in community college education.
Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess at a minimum an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Radiation Oncology, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification or equivalent with continuing educational compliance, and two years of clinical experience in the professional discipline. Clinical Instructors must also be proficient in supervision, instruction, and evaluation.

All Clinical Instructor positions require excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
Additional Considerations:

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous experience as a clinical instructor preferred.
