The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine invites applications for two positions as Clinical Research Coordinators (CRC-1 or CRC-2), non-licensed. Research is a critical component of anesthesiology, driving progress within the field and aligning with our department's mission to advance medical knowledge and patient care.
These roles involve a range of clinical trial activities that vary based on the licensing status of the selected candidates. Working under the guidance of our Vice Chair for Clinical Research and alongside departmental clinicians and research staff, the Clinical Research Coordinators are pivotal in executing various phases of the research trials and engaging with study participants.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of study start-up including handling agreements and developing clinical trial budgets.
- Coordinate study recruitment and enrollment, ensuring informed consent, and managing patient screening and enrollment.
- Conduct ongoing study tasks including scheduling, tracking adverse events, and managing study visits and participant compensation.
- Accurately collect, enter, and maintain study data and documentation, and handle specimen collection, processing, and shipping.
- Prepare regulatory documentation for the IRB, manage protocol modifications, and report deviations and adverse events.
- Reconcile study billing to differentiate charges covered by the study from those billed to third-party payors and ensure accurate invoicing to sponsors.
- Maintain clear communication with study sponsors and alert the Principal Investigator or supervisor to any issues regarding study or participant status.
- Utilize various electronic platforms in clinical research such as IRB Pro, Protocol Builder, CRConnect, OnCore, e-regulatory platforms, and Epic.
- Continuously enhance clinical research knowledge through participation in training, mentorship, and self-directed learning
Minimum Requirements: Clinical Research Trainee (CRC-1), Non-Licensed
- Education: Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent combination of experience, education and or certifications.
- Experience: Some experience in a healthcare setting and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Clinical Research Trainee (CRC-2), Non-Licensed
- Education: Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent combination of experience, education and or certifications.
- Experience: At least one year of clinical research experience. Some experience in a healthcare setting and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Meticulous record-keeping.
- Knowledge of clinical research, acute care settings, and medical terminology.

This position will remain open until filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.
