JOB DESCRIPTION

The Department of Environmental Quality seeks a qualified candidate to coordinate the creation, implementation, and delivery of the Petroleum Storage Tank program’s compliance, remediation, and operator training. The person in this position also procures and administers the online training management services used to deliver training. This is a restricted position. Continued employment is contingent on the availability of grant or non-general funds. Please note this position follows a hybrid work schedule to include both in-office and telework. Candidates must be able to work from the assigned work location in Virginia. This position may require that the selected candidate complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests as a condition of employment, per the Code of Virginia § 2.2-3118.2

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is primarily responsible for: 

  • Developing and maintaining training plans for Petroleum Storage Tank Compliance Inspectors 
  • Developing systems to track completed trainings, particularly Operator Training programs: as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues as it relates to system access problems, certificate errors, profile errors, and payment issues
  • Conducting audit checks to identify which tank operators need to attend training, and ensuring data quality in training program through proactively identifying and correcting inconsistencies. 
  • Training coordinating, conducting in-person training with staff members, as well as webinars with the regulated community, environmental consultants, and tank contractors


 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in office software applications
  • Understanding of employee motivation, adult learning principles, and team building skills. 
  • Knowledge of all applicable State training, travel and procurement rules and procedures. 
  • Demonstrated ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to
    customers. 
  • Training or experience in coordinating training events, adult training principles, methods and practices, procurement, and data management.
  • Learning Management System experience, and Knowledge of tank regulations is a plus.
