Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient centered neurological care for adults and children, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists. The Department of Neurology is committed to enhancing diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time member to join our expanding clinical and research enterprises in the Division of Movement Disorders. This position will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings with an emphasis on movement disorders.
2. Teaching Faculty member will teach medical students and housestaff. They will be expected to organize and develop a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students emphasizing issues in movement disorders. They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested.
3. Research The Division of General Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials.
4. Service Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
Required Qualifications:
BC/BE in Neurology
Completed an accredited Movement Disorders Fellowship
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
Independently funded research program
