Job Description:
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is seeking a Coordinator of the Office of Student Accommodations to lead the delivery of services and support for students with disabilities across all campuses. This position provides strategic oversight of the Office of Student Accommodations and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008.

The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:
  • Leading the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Accommodations across multiple campus locations
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services designed to support students with documented disabilities
  • Ensuring institutional compliance with federal and state laws related to disability access and accommodations
  • Advocating for an inclusive and equitable learning environment for students with disabilities
  • Collaborating with faculty, staff, and administrators to facilitate reasonable accommodations and enhance accessibility
  • Serving as a campus resource on disability-related policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with legal and institutional standards

This role requires a commitment to student advocacy, a strong understanding of disability law, and the ability to foster collaborative relationships across the college community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful in the position:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Considerable knowledge of student affairs administration and counseling techniques and practices
  • Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, and other federal, state, and local regulations governing higher education
  • Ability to evaluate learning and physical disabilities, medical and psychological profiles, socio-economic conditions, and academic records to determine appropriate accommodations that support student success
  • Ability to advise students, conduct assessments, facilitate workshops, and manage programs and budgets
  • Skill in developing career plans and job-placement objectives, conducting follow-up activities, and building effective relationships with community agencies
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and effectiveness in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency with personal computers and current software applications
  • Capacity for frequent travel between college campuses
  • Ability to pass the college’s pre-employment security screening

  • Experience supervising staff and managing budgets
