Postdoctoral Associate

The Van der Heijden Lab at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech in association with the Department of Neuroscience is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate. Led by Dr. Meike van der Heijden, the lab aims to study the development of cerebellar function in health and disease.

The lab goals are to understand why perturbations to the cerebellum can lead to movement disorders with a broad range of symptoms and phenotypes. The work is relevant to understanding the pathophysiology of movement disorders including dystonia, ataxia, and tremor.

- PhD in neuroscience, computer science, or related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
- Strong quantitative skills and experience coding in MATLAB or Python
- Track record of publications and presentations.
- Experience in mentorship and/or teaching.

• Demonstrated laboratory research experience in a neuroscience laboratory
• Experience working with EEG datasets
• Desire to succeed in a fast-paced research environment with multiple duties
• Experience working with rodents
