HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE: 1) You’ll be joining the Cook Counseling Center team; a department centered on promoting student learning, development, retention, and holistic well-being by providing resources for improving mental health and identifying psychological barriers to academic success. 2) You’ll be reporting to the Director and Associate Director in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. 3) You’ll be responsible for providing direct clinical services and performance enhancement training to student athletes through triage, intake, and counseling appointments, approximately 3 days/week, and serve on the Cook Counseling triage team conducting triage appointments approximately 2 days/week. 4) You’ll consult with coaches, administrators, parents, provide outreach to the athletic community, and attend some team meetings. 5) You'll supervise pre-doctoral interns and practicum students, provide on-call emergency coverage as assigned, and participate actively in staff, committee, and professional development activities. 6) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division. 7) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $70,000 - $80,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications • Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, from an APA-approved program with an APA-approved internship and be licensed or licensed-eligible as a clinical psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Supervision may be provided with a goal of licensure within 1 year from start date. • Experience in providing focused therapeutic interventions with a multidisciplinary team. • Experience and interest in collaboration with academic departments, faculty, and staff. • Training and experience in delivering culturally competent interventions. • Experience in outreach and educational programming, e.g., suicide prevention gatekeeper programs. • Experience with managing crisis situations, completing risk assessments, and disposition planning to address safety risks. • A self-motivated, self-directed commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice. • The energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of the role while maintaining positive and healthy relationships. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues with acceptance, respect, and trust. • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications • Certification as a mental performance consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. • Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students. • Experience working with student athletes. • Previous training and/or experience in a college mental health setting. • Well-developed counseling and clinical supervision skills.
