Job Description:

The Educational Technology Specialist serves as part of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CEITL) team and the main point of contact for students seeking technical support for technologies associated with distance education at Laurel Ridge Community College including, but not limited to, Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace for Education. The Educational Technology Specialist will provide individual and group assistance to students who require additional support in online learning tools and systems, including the use of learning management systems, communication environments, productivity tools, and creativity tools. The Educational Technology Specialist interacts with students, faculty, and other college personnel to investigate and resolve instructional technology errors and issues. In collaboration with the CEITL Team and internal partners including Technology Services, the Educational Technology Specialist is responsible for effective implementation and ongoing support of instructional technology applications.

The CEITL Educational Technology Specialist is a college-wide position and reports directly to the Director of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching and Learning.

This position may require an alternate work schedule for evening and weekend coverage.

Classified: Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this position is $45,000.00-$55,000.00. Salary will commensurate with competencies and experience. The position is classified staff and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies. • Working knowledge or experience using educational technologies, multimedia techniques and tools, and educational software applications to create instructional materials in various formats including handouts, web pages, and videos (including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace for Education, Adobe applications, Zoom, etc.)
